Children's Ministries

The mission of Children's Ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown is

to nurture the children of our church and community in the love and truth of Jesus Christ,

to foster in them a desire to follow and obey Christ,

and to give them a solid biblical foundation

upon which they can make faithful choices for the rest of their lives.

Faith is like a seed that is planted, grows, and bears fruit. It matures in an environment of worship, fellowship, education, service, and faith-sharing. Through the Children's Ministry programs, we partner with parents to grow the faith of children.

Sunday Mornings are just one part of Children's Ministry where children are nurtured in the love and truth of Jesus Christ. It is our conviction that a child's discipleship is nurtured best through a combination of worship and education experiences. Families are encouraged to worship together in the Sanctuary for the first part of the service.

Following the Children's Moment of worship, children will attend Childcare (age 4/pre-K) or Sunday Specials (K - 5). These Christian Educational activities include Faith Adventures Bible Memory, music, crafts, computer time, library visits, and mission projects which will vary weekly.

Sunday School is from 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. Those children who have been in childcare or Sunday Specials during the 8:45 a.m. service will stay in their rooms for Sunday School. If you attend 11 a.m. worship, please see that your child is in the classroom by 9:55 a.m. Parents, please arrange to meet children, Kindergarten-Grade 5 by 10:55 a.m.

Through Faith Adventures Bible Memory, children learn and memorize Scripture verses. We encourage parents to be involved in helping children learn their verses. Children will be learning scripture from various categories, such as stewardship, salvation, friendship etc. Each month children will learn a new verse and review past verses. The key to memorizing is review, review, review at home and at church. Children recite the verses to their Sunday School Teacher each month. In February all who are participating in the Bible Memory will be invited to an Ice Cream Party. We will recognize those children who can recite all 8 verses at the end of the 3rd quarter with party.
